Do I Qualify to Be an Egg Donor?

Before filling out your Egg Donor application, please ensure you meet the following egg donation requirements. These guidelines align with global Egg Donor eligibility standards.

Basic Egg Donor Requirements

Age: 19–32 years old
Health: In excellent physical and mental health
BMI: Between 18–28

Education: High school diploma or higher

Non-smoker, drug-free, and not alcohol-dependent

Not undergoing treatment for depression or anxiety

No sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)

Family Medical History

  • No genetic disorders in the immediate family
  • No significant family history of cancer (multiple immediate family members)

Birth Control Requirements:

  • No Depo-Provera shot in the past 8 months
  • No Norplant or hormonal IUD currently in place
  • Please note: All donors are required to take birth control pills throughout the duration of their cycle.

Willingness to Participate:

  • Undergo medical and psychological screening
  • Consent to drug and nicotine testing
  • Self-administer (or have assistance with) daily hormone injections
  • Keep profile updated and remain responsive
  • Be dependable, responsible, and committed throughout the process

Step 1: Apply Online

Step 2: Complete Your Egg Donor Profile
Once you’ve submitted your online profile, our team will carefully review your information to ensure it meets our egg donation program guidelines. If you have any questions, we’re always here to help!

Step 3: Schedule a Video Call
Next, schedule an informative video call with our expert team. During this session, we’ll review your Egg Donor profile in detail, answer your questions, and provide a clear overview of the egg donation process. This is a great opportunity to learn more, ensure a smooth experience, and feel confident about your journey. We look forward to connecting with you!

Step 4: Keep Your Profile Updated
Congratulations – you’re now an Eggspecting Egg Donor! Keep your profile updated at least twice a year or after any major health or life changes. This ensures Intended Parents always have the most accurate information when selecting a Donor.

Step 5: The Matching Process
Once you’re in our Egg Donor database, Intended Parents can view your profile through a secure, password-protected system. Your identity remains completely anonymous throughout the process.
✔ Matching times vary – some Donors match quickly, while others take longer.
✔ Matches depend on Intended Parents’ preferences and clinic requirements.
✔ While we cannot guarantee a match, we work closely with Donors to maximize their chances of selection.
Before proceeding, we’ll confirm all details, including the cycle timeline, compensation, and terms & conditions.

Step 6: Match Confirmation & Paperwork
Once you’re officially matched, you’ll sign the Egg Donor-Agency Agreement outlining the terms of your participation. This is the first step in preparing for medical screening.

Step 7: Medical, Genetic & Psychological Screening
Our comprehensive screening process ensures your health and safety, meeting the highest medical standards. The screening phase typically takes 6 to 10 weeks and includes:
Fertility & hormone testing
Comprehensive genetic screening
Infectious disease screening (STDs & other tests)
Ovarian ultrasound
Psychological evaluation
General health assessment, including drug & nicotine testing
All screening costs are covered by the Intended Parents.
You will need to start birth control pills to sync your cycle with the donation timeline.

Step 8: Legal Process
Before donating, you’ll sign a legal agreement with the Intended Parents to ensure protection for all parties. You’ll receive independent legal representation at no cost to you. Once all agreements are signed, we move to the exciting next step!

Step 9: Stimulation & Egg Retrieval
The egg donation cycle lasts 10 to 14 days, and here’s what to expect:
1️. Hormone Stimulation – You’ll take hormone injections for about 10-14 days, with regular morning clinic visits for ultrasounds & blood work.
2️. Egg Retrieval Procedure – Once your follicles are ready, you’ll receive a trigger injection and undergo a quick outpatient egg retrieval procedure under light sedation (20-30 minutes).

How Egg Donor Compensation is Determined

Egg Donor compensation varies for each Donor and cycle, with several factors influencing the amount you receive. These factors include:

Country of Residence (South Africa)
Location of Egg Retrieval (International locations outside of South Africa)
International Laws and Regulations
Prior Donation Experience and History
Donor Exclusivity
Unique Characteristics or Achievements
Donors with rare physical traits, exceptional education, or unique qualifications may receive higher compensation.

Typical Egg Donor Compensation for South Africa-based Donors

South Africa-based Egg Donors can expect compensation that ranges from $3,000 to $8,000+ USD equivalent per cycle, depending on the specifics of the donation.

Example in South African Rand: Approximately 54,780 to 146,080 ZAR per cycle (subject to exchange rates).

When and How Egg Donor Compensation is Paid

Egg Donor compensation is paid in two stages:

15% of the total compensation is paid once you begin hormone stimulation injections.
✔ 2.The remaining 85% is paid within 7 business days after your egg retrieval is complete, regardless of the quantity or quality of eggs retrieved.

Your Expenses Are Fully Covered

As an Egg Donor, you will not incur any costs related to the egg donation process. Intended Parents cover all expenses, including:

The egg donation cycle lasts 10 to 14 days, and here’s what to expect:

Medical screenings (fertility, genetic, Overall Health and psychological evaluations)

Cycle-specific medications (e.g., birth control pills, prenatal vitamins, and stimulation medications)

Attorney fees for your legal representation on your Parent-Donor agreement

Since you will be required to travel internationally for the egg donation process, all travel expenses will be fully covered by the Intended Parents.
